A Taste of Hampden 2012
This year’s A Taste of Hampden was a tremendous success and great party raising $11,000. The event was SOLD OUT – making Family center history. With more than 250 people in attendance, the place was overflowing with supporters. Guests mingled with friends and enjoyed sampling a variety of cuisines from 19 participating restaurants. From tuna tartar to steamed mussels, green chile stew to shrimp and grits, duck confit ravioli to sweet and sour shrimp, brussel sprouts to tacquitos, no one left hungry. Everyone remarked the food was delicious and plentiful! Wine, beer and soft drinks were graciously provided by The Wine Source, and music by Ridiculous Entertainment.
Guests participated in a raffle for the “Mystery Boxes.” Some lucky winners departed for the night with raffle prizes in tow thanks to the generosity of local businesses that donated items.
Sincere thanks to the many restaurants that participated. It was a tremendous success due, in no small measure, to the big hearts of the local establishments that joined us for an evening of food, fun, wine and music. Your generosity and support of the Family Center is greatly appreciated! We hope that you will support the many restaurants that supported us.
Thank you to the following restaurants that made this event possible: Alchemy, Angelos Pizza, Asian Taste, Birroteca, Café Hon, Common Ground, Corner BYOB, Fraziers on the Avenue, The Food Market, Golden West Café, Grandview Penthouse, Holy Frijoles, Luigi’s Italian Deli, Mamma’s Cucina, Ma Petite Shoe, Rocket to Venus, Roland Park Bakery & Deli, The Dogwood, The Wine Source, and Woodberry Kitchen!
And to the following merchants for their Mystery Box contributions: Atomic Books, The Bottom Drawer lingerie Boutique, Denova, Doubledutch Boutique, Eye Candy Opticianry, In Watermelon Sugar, Kiss’N Make-Up, Lovelyarns, Sandy’s Bargain Center, Sixteen Tons, Soft and Cozy Baby, Sprout, Trohv, The Turnover Shop, Urban Baby, and Zenzations by Jen.
Hats Off to Hampden Family Center 2012
More than 250 people packed the Gutierrez Studios at Clipper Mill on April 14, 2012 for the most successful fundraiser in the Family Center’s 16-year history. Party goers arrived donned in festive hats sipping champagne and feasted on delicious food and drinks (the evening was catered by The Pantry, desserts by Carey’s Fine Foods, libations by The Wine Source) and enjoyed the sounds of Cris Jacobs and the Hampden All-Stars.
There was something for everyone — grab bags were available to purchase with such treats as gift cards to local establishments in addition to raffle tickets for a chance to win an iPad, BOSE iPod docking station or Kindle Fire. Sponsorships were available for those who wanted to send a child to summer camp for a week. Guests enjoyed bidding on the many silent and live auction items. Bidders of the live auction left with tickets to see Madonna or Coldplay in DC and a beautiful diamond necklace. But no one left empty-handed — all guests received a complimentary bag of “Our Signature Pretzels” thanks to Carey’s Fine Foods.
The funds raised that evening will be used to support the programs and services of the center. The event would have been impossible with out the tremendous support of our sponsors and the generosity of those who donated in-kind goods and services.
Royal Farms Golf Tournament
Royal Farms Golf Classic and and Royal Farms presented Lisa Ghinger, Executive Director of Hampden Family Center, with a check for $100,000 at the lunch following the golf tournament. One hundred and forty-four golfers came out to play at our 1st Annual Royal Farms Golf Classic at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club Golf Course in Owings Mills.
The generosity of our players and sponsors will work to help support the various worthwhile programs the center provides for many youth, and lower income adults and seniors throughout the Hampden area. We thank everyone for participating!
